Joseph Heyes, son of Frederick James Heyes and Alice Clare, was born on 25 November 1883 at St. Helens, Lancashire, England.1

By 1901 Joseph was working as a mechanic at St. Helens. Joseph's occupation is given as mechanic, general fitter or engineer in various records.2

Joseph Heyes married Alice Maud Domville, daughter of John Domville and Margaret Baker, on 8 July 1909 at St. Mary, Great Sankey, Lancashire, England.3

Joseph was a general fitter at the soap and chemical works at the time of the 1911 census at Great Sankey.4

Joseph, Alice and their children left England for Canada aboard the S.S. Montcalm on 2 November 1923 departing from Liverpool, Lancashire, England. They were bound for St. Catharines, Ontario to join Joseph's brother, Peter.5,6

Joseph died on 27 October 1964 at Gardiner's Barber Shop, Toronto, Ontario, at age 801 and was buried on 30 October 1964 at Park Lawn Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario.1
