Sarah Thomlinson

b. 1 April 1850, d. 1908
Sarah Thomlinson, daughter of William Thomlinson and Mary Walsh, was born on 1 April 1850 at Dacre, Ontario.1

It is not clear how Sarah met Michael Butler. In the 1871 census Sarah is found living with her widowed mother in Grattan township, Renfrew County. Michael has not been found in the 1871 census, so it is possible that he was in Grattan or somewhere nearby. However, at the time of their marriage in 1876, Michael's residence is Allumette Island, and Sarah's is Grattan.2

Sarah married Michael Butler, son of Michael Butler and Ellen Smith, on 26 November 1876 at Renfrew, Ontario.2

On 5 May 1897 Michael and Sarah sold their land in Grattan and moved to Sudbury. It is likely that they heard of the booming mining community and decided to make a living at something less difficult than farming.3

Michael ran a livery barn in sudbury near the Balmoral Hotel. Michael and Sarah also ran a restaurant on Elm St. East between Durham and Lisgar streets.4

Sarah died in 1908 at Sudbury, Ontario.4
