Michael Butler1

b. 1814, d. 23 January 1890
Michael Butler, son of Michael Butler and Elizabeth Menoyne, was born in 1814 at County Tipperary, Ireland.2

Michael left Ireland for Canada in about 1839 and settled in Ottawa, Ontario, called Bytown at the time.1

Michael married Ellen Smith on 6 February 1844 at Basilique Cathedral Notre-Dame, Ottawa, Ontario.3

Michael, Ellen and thier infant daughter Mary Anne left Ottawa likely in 1845 and moved west to Ile des Allumette, Quebec.

Michael received a grant of land for 100 acres on 24 December 1860 at Ile des Allumettes.4 On 17 August 1863 he received a further grant of 100 acres.5

Michael died on 23 January 1890 at Ile des Allumettes, Quebec,6 and was buried on 25 January 1890 at Chapeau cemetery.6
