Charles Alfred Jago1

b. 3 October 1909, d. 9 February 1994
Charles Alfred Jago, son of Charles Jago and Elizabeth Mary Jenkins, was born on 3 October 1909 at Guelph, Ontario,2 and baptized on 14 November 1909 at St. George's Church, Guelph, Ontario.3

Charles had a difficult beginning to his life. Like many other children, Charles lost his father during WW I. He was nine years old at the time. This was a devastating blow to Charles's mother, who never fully recovered.

Charles started work at age 16 to help provide for the family.4

Charles Alfred Jago married Margaret Edith Heyes, daughter of Joseph Heyes and Alice Maud Domville, on 24 July 1937 at St. George's Anglican Church, St. Catharines, Ontario.5

When the children were in high school English Electric closed their St. Catharines office and Charles had to commute to Toronto to work in the offices there. He would stay at his brother-in-law Stan Heyes's place during the week and be home for the weekends.

After Gail and Charles finished school, Charles and Edith moved to Toronto.

When Charles was in his early 50s English Electric closed. He found a job with Ainsworth Electric and stayed with them for about 15 years so he would qualify for a pension. Charles retired from Ainsworth Electric in about 1975 at age 66.4

Shortly after their retirements, Charles and Edith moved from Toronto back to St. Catharines.

Charles and Edith spent many of their retirement years travelling and spending time with their children and grandchildren.6

Charles Alfred Jago died on 9 February 1994 at St. Catharines General Hospital, St. Catharines, Ontario, at age 84.7 He was buried on 12 February 1994 at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, St. Catharines, Ontario.8,7
