Alfred Norris Jenkins, son of Samuel Jenkins and Elizabeth Ashford, was born on 6 July 1845 at Hugh Town, St. Mary's, Isles of Scilly, Cornwall, England.3

By the age of 15 Alfred was working as a ship carpenter at St. Mary's, Scilly.4

Alfred married Mary Goddard, daughter of Thomas Ashford Goddard and Mary Ashford, on 23 February 1871 at Hugh Town, St. Mary's, Isles of Scilly, Cornwall, England.5 By the time of the 1881 census Alfred was a journeyman shipwright.6

Alfred was a fisherman and pleasure boatman by 1911 at St. Mary's, Scilly, Cornwall, England.7

Alfred died on 10 June 1927 at Scilly Islands, Cornwall, England, at age 81.
