Emeline Jane Jago
b. 4 September 1877, d. 1956
Emeline Jane Jago, daughter of Charles Augustus John Petherick Jago and Emiline Matilda Kneebone, was born on 4 September 1877 at Devonport, Devon, England,1 and was baptized on 23 September 1877 at St. James the Great, Devonport.1
Emeline's father served in the Royal Navy and the Coastguard, so the family moved around a great deal as he was transferred from one Coastguard station to another. They moved from Devonport to several ports in Cornwall, such as Pendeen and Penzance, and also to Ireland. The family eventually moved back to Devonport. Emeline seems to have also been charged with taking care of her ageing father as he sufferred from "senile decay."2
After her father's death Emeline worked as a shopkeeper. In 1939 she was living with her brother, George, in their father's house in Devonport.3
Emeline died in 1956 at Plymouth.
