Arthur Jago

Arthur Jago, son of Charles Augustus John Petherick Jago and Emiline Matilda Kneebone, was born on 8 November 1890 at Zennor, Cornwall, England.1

Arthur's father served in the Royal Navy and the Coastguard, so the family moved around a great deal as he was transferred from one Coastguard station to another. They moved to several ports in Cornwall, such as Zennor and Penzance, and also to Ireland. The family eventually moved back to Devonport.2

Arthur joined the Royal Navy enlisting on 13 August 1906 at Devonport, Devon, England, at age 15 and started his service aboard HMS Impregnable as a Boy 2nd Class.Arthur had a long naval career of more than 20 years. He was promoted to Petty Officer in 1917 and to Chief Petty Officer in 1926.1

Arthur married Florence Lock in 1911 at Devonport.3

Arthur died on 24 April 1941 at Plymouth at age 50.
